William Hamilton Gann, 89, of Chattanooga, passed away on Wednesday, at his home, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Bill was born in Chattanooga, the son of the late Benjamin and Elma Poe Gann, and was a direct descendant of the William Bean family, the first settlers in Tennessee, as well as the Poe family, who owned the first court house in Hamilton County. He was a 1937 graduate of The McCallie School and attended Mississippi State University.
