William David “Bill” Greer, 86 of Paducah passed away on Monday, May 30, 2011 in Paducah. Mr. Greer retired from Martin-Marietta in 1986 having worked there for 35 years. He was a World War II veteran having served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946 aboard the U.S.S. Intrepid and survived a torpedo attack and two kamikaze attacks. He was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by two daughters, Barbara Ann Greer of Paducah and Rose Marie Sullivan and husband Terry of Paducah; sisters, Evelyn Greer Wallace of Mobile, AL, Patricia Moore of Pottsboro, TX, Beverly Farabee of Birmingham, AL; brother, Ernest Wayne Greer of Mobile, AL; grandchildren, Terry Lee Sullivan, Jr. of Paducah and Daniel Lee Sullivan of Paducah; great grandchildren, Ben Hopper, Ashley Marie Sullivan, Abigail Erin Sullivan, and Leah Michelle Sullivan all of Paducah. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline (Maddox) Greer; parents, Ernest Addison and Bessie Lee (Talley) Greer; son, William David Greer; sister, Virginia Smith; great grandson, Jonah Sullivan.
