William “Grant” Knavel, Age 88, of Salem, passed away at 7:30 p.m. Friday, August 5, 2016 at the Salem Regional Medical Center. He was born February 3, 1928 in Mingo Junction, Ohio, the son of the late George L. and Esther (Huffman) Knavel.
Grant joined the U.S. Air Force at the age of 17, retiring after 20 years of service. He received his GED Diploma from the Salem High School Class of 1946. He was a self-employed contractor, and builder. A writer, artist, and actor.
He is survived by a son; Scott G. Knavel of East Liverpool, a daughter Patricia L. Murphy of Salem; 3grandchildren, and 6great-grandchildren.
