William F. Payne, 79, of Three Oaks, Michigan died Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital, Michigan City, Indiana. Bill was born February 27, 1931 in Three Oaks Township, Michigan to Sylvester and Myrtle (Shemeley) Payne.
He served his country in the US Army during the Korean War earning the Korean Service Ribbon with one Bronze Service Star, the United Nations Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. On May 16, 1959 he married Carol Koth in Michigan City; she preceded him in death on January 30, 2007. Bill was a hard worker and never missed a day of work.
He was employed at Gerwin – Bromwell in Grand Beach, Michigan and Michigan City. Bill was a die hard Cubs fan. He enjoyed tinkering around the house, mowing the lawn, gardening, taking long walks, and caring for Gods creatures. Bill will be remembered for his great sense of humor and his ability to roll with the punches.Survivors include his daughter Barbara (Andy) Brandys of Three Oaks, son Drexel Payne of Michigan City and grandchildren Stephanie and Rachael.
