William “Ernie” Palmer, 89, of Anderson passed away on Monday, August 12, 2013, at Manor Care in Anderson.
He was born November 4, 1923, in Memphis, TN to William and Ida Canterbury Palmer. Ernie was a World War II veteran having served in the U. S. Marines. He had been a self-employed carpenter all of his life. Ernie traveled throughout the United States building Red Roof Inns. He enjoyed planting and maintaining his gardens throughout the years. He enjoyed cookouts with his family and friends.
Ernie is survived by his children, Mike Angie Palmer, Anderson, Doug Patricia Palmer, Point Blank, TX, David Carlotta Palmer, Anderson, Sheila Allen Wagner, Anderson, David Pam Sloan, Karin Jay Reichart, Markleville, and Danny April Sloan, Anderson; sister, Betty Guenthenspberger, Anderson; grandchildren, Shaya Palmer, Shawna Pacheco, Chad Palmer, Richard Scruggs, Shane Palmer, Tracy Palmer, Billy Palmer, Brian Palmer, Brent Palmer, Robin Wagner, Miranda Wagner, Clint Wagner, Shelby Sloan, Aaron Farnsworth, Kirby Coppess, Daniel Sloan, and Morgan Sloan; 24 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank Heartland Hospice and Manor Care for their care and compassion.
He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth Marlene Palmer; parents, William and Ida Palmer; brothers, Gilbert and Johnny Palmer.
