Chatham, William Earle McKissick age 80, of 845 Evergreen Rd. Chatham, VA died Friday, August 31, 2012 at Danville Regional Medical Center. He was born on February 11, 1932, in Blackstone, VA, the son of the late Andrew McKissick and the late Elizabeth Talley McKissick. Mr. McKissick was married to his wife Peggy for 47 years. He graduated from Longwood College and served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired after 33 years as manager of the Health District’s Environmental Health Program. He was a member of the Lion’s Club for 53 years and was a very active member of Chatham Presbyterian Church. In addition to his wife, Peggy Bohannon McKissick, he survived by two children, Joseph A. McKissick of Martinsville, VA and Amanda McKissick Villameriel of Lynchburg, VA; two brothers, James Aubrey McKissick of Chesterfield and Harry Linwood McKissick of Farmville; two sisters, Joyce M. Rowe of Richmond and Ruby M. Pritchett of Virginia Beach; three grandchildren, John William McKissick and Isaac Marvin McKissick, both of Martinsville and Victoria Amanda Villameriel of Lynchburg. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, George McKissick, Charles Clifton McKissick, and Andrew Thomas McKissick and two sisters, Mary Virginia McKissick and Eleanor M. Snead.
