William E. Rogers, Sr., 86, of Freemansburg, passed away on Friday, July 11, 2014 in his home. He was the husband of Marjorie (Berger) Rogers. They celebrated 69 years of marriage this past March. Born in Sparrows Point, Maryland, he was the son of the late Charles H. and Dora A. (Matheny) Rogers. Bill served his country during World War II in the Army Air Corp. He was a long distance Truck Driver for Chemical Leamon Tank Line for many years. Bill was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Palmer Twp. He was Past Commander of Freemansburg American Legion Post # 31. He was a founding member of the Freemansburg/Bethlehem Township Little League and coached Legion Baseball. Bill was a former soccer player with Portuguese American Club. He served as Director of L.V. Chapter of Transport for Christ, and on the Freemansburg Borough Sewer Authority and was an avid golfer. Survivors: include his loving wife, Marjorie, son, Kenny Rogers and his wife, Lynn and son, Kelly Rogers and his wife, Cheri all of Freemansburg; brother, Richard Rogers and his wife Caroline of Allentown; 5 grandchildren, Sherry Waldhausen, her husband Gordon and their children, Cole, Neil and Henry; Amy Rogers and her companion, Gabriele Hlinka; Katie Rymon and her husband, Joshua; Laura Rohrbach and her husband Stephen; and Josh Rogers. A son, William E. Rogers, Jr., the husband of Sandra Rogers of Bethlehem, died in 2012. Bill’s brothers, Rollin, Lester, Eugene, Kenneth, Charles and Harold and sisters, Geraldine Marrah and Helen Alvarez died earlier.
