William E. Montgomery, 87, Anderson, after much suffering, went peacefully into the arms of Jesus on March 1, 2012. He was born December 22, 1924 in Jennings County, IN, and lived most of his life in Anderson.
William was a medic with the United States Army serving in World War II, where he earned three Bronze Stars and the WWII Victory Medal. He was a self-employed television repairman and a retired circulation manager at the Anderson Herald Bulletin. He was a member of Gospel Light in Anderson, the Moose Lodge, and the Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks #209.
Survivors include his daughter, Glenna “GiGi” Emmons of Anderson; grandchildren, Christian W. Emmons Christy of Greenfield, Shannon R. Fannin David of Marion, Joshua D. Ploughe Kelly of Pendleton and six great grandchildren.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Countryside Manor for their loving care. He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma North Montgomery, in 1973; parents, Leo & Edith Toladay Montgomery; three brothers and two sisters.
