William Clifton Pitkin Jr., known affectionately as Sach, passed away on July 9, 2024, at the age of 69 in Elton, Virginia. Born on July 11, 1954, in Arlington, Virginia, Sach led a life marked by kindness, a love for the outdoors, and a dedicated career. Sach graduated from Robinson Secondary School in Fairfax, Virginia, and soon after embarked on a long-standing career with the Fairfax County Government Solid Waste Division. He retired as a respected truck driver and equipment operator, known for his reliability and strong work ethic. Along the way, he put many smiles on the faces of his brothers at the Clifton Fire Station, where he volunteered. Throughout his life, Sach was a lover of nature, which was evident in his passion for hunting, fishing, and camping. He spent countless hours sharing this love with his brothers, nephews, and friends, and inspired many of their passions for the same. Sach was a pillar of support to his family and friends, always ready to lend a hand with any project, big or small. His gentle and trusting nature made him a beloved figure in his community. Sach is survived by his sisters, Barbara Stanley (Cleetus Jewell) and Kathy Roberts (Louis Johnson); brothers, Robert Uda (Ora), and Michael Pitkin (Jackie); sister-in-law, Denise Pitkin; nieces, Bridget Pitkin, Shannon Hicks (Lanard), and Catherine Uda; and nephews, Robert Uda, Jr. (Teresa), Jeff Uda, William Pitkin (Megan), Edward Pitkin (Kelsey), Christopher Pitkin (Holly), Zach Pitkin (Julia), Zebediah Pitkin, and John Uda, Jr. Additionally, his 11 great-nieces and great-nephews brought ultimate joy to his later years. Sach was predeceased by his father, William Clifton Pitkin, Sr., his mother, Catherine Helen Pitkin, and his brothers, John Uda, Sr., Daniel Pitkin, and James Pitkin.
