INDIAN TRAIL, N.C. – William Charles Misocky Sr., 73, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017, his birthday, at his residence surrounded by family, after a brief battle with cancer.
Born Sept. 13, 1944, in Niles, he was the son of the late John and Velma Misocky. He was a lifelong resident of Trumbull County before moving to North Carolina in 1989.
William has long been remembered as a top athlete in Trumbull County sports. He played football, basketball and baseball; most notably alongside his brother, John, on the St. Mary High School, now John F. Kennedy, football team. He graduated from Warren G. Harding High School in 1963, and completed his degree in criminal justice at Youngstown State University in 1975.
William served his country valiantly as a member of the Marine Corps in Vietnam during the late 1960s, earning the rank of corporal.
William worked as a police officer for the city of Warren. He would often pick up side jobs working security at many athletic events to support his family and the community. William became a supervisor at Copperweld Steel in Warren before later working again for the city as a planning director. He moved to North Carolina in 1989, and opened up his own little car lot, Misocky Auto Sales. He has always been a car aficionado. William later retired in North Carolina and was able to spend some quality time the past several years with his family and grandchildren in the area. He absolutely adored watching the kids play sports.
