William C. Stone, a long time resident of Cocoa Beach, passed away on March 30, 2021 in the arms of his loving wife and best friend, Ann.
Bill was born in Seattle Washington on January 13, 1935 to William Frank Stone and Barbara Lee Calhoun Stone. He grew up in Seattle, and received a degree in business at the U of Washington, where he was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. After serving in the US Army, Bill returned to Seattle and served in the National Guard and worked for the Boeing Company. In 1968 he had the opportunity to travel to Brevard County and work for Boeing at the Kennedy Space Center on the Apollo program. During this time he met Ann, got “sand in his shoes” and wanted to stay and live in Cocoa Beach. Bill and Ann were married on December 16, 1972. They traveled to Oxnard, California where he worked with Boeing at Port Hueneme. A year later they were back in Cocoa Beach. He continued and enjoyed working with the Space Program and retired in 1997.
He is survived by his wife Ann, his cousin Larry Miller’s family in Seattle WA.
Jay Jansen’s family, Jennifer Belanger’s family and many cousins in Canada.
Those who knew Bill will remember him as a kind, loving, generous and devoted husband and friend. He loved to travel, read, cheer for his favorite sports teams and enjoy the back yard oasis that he and Ann created. He was a familiar sight riding his bike around town, or taking a sunset walk on the beach with Ann. Bill had a quick wit, a great sense of humor and always enjoyed a good laugh.
