William “Bill” Robinson, age 80, of Algona passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2020, at his sister’s home in Charles City. William James Robinson, the son of Eugene “Bud” and Ruth (Cink) Robinson, was born on September 24, 1939 in Algona. He graduated from St. Cecelia Academy in 1957. Bill served in the U.S. Air Force during the beginning of the Vietnam War. On May 8, 1965, Bill was united in marriage with Phyllis Metzen at St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona. Bill worked very hard throughout the years. He had his own masonry business, Robinson-Geving Masonry, and was employed by IBP until his retirement. Bill was a member of St. Cecelia, the VFW Post #2541 of Algona, and the Otto-Field American Legion Post #415 of Livermore. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, the “big” Cubs, the “little” Cubs- actually all sports. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends. Bill was a lot of fun to be around, and he kept everyone entertained. He was also a very proud veteran, and loved to talk and reminisce about the Air Force and the lifelong friends he had made. Left to cherish Bill’s memory are his wife of 55 years, Phyllis of Algona; children, Scott (Michelle) Robinson of Kiester, MN, Christopher Robinson of Bode and Jessica Robinson of Ames; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; siblings: Janice Jergenson of Algona, Jean (Richard) Erpelding of St. Joe, Joanne Robinson of Charles City, John (Carla) Robinson of Cylinder and James (Scott Camacho) Robinson of Chandler, AZ; a sister-in-law, Barb Robinson of Dow City; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Richard Robinson.
