William Detrick, age 86, of Humboldt died on Friday November 27, 2020 at the Humboldt South Care Center. William Duane Detrick, the son of Clarence and Catherine (Stein) Detrick, was born on October 6, 1934 in Algona, Iowa. He graduated from St. Cecelia Academy in 1952. On September 10, 1955 Bill was united in marriage with Barbara J. Smith in Wesley, Iowa. He served in the Iowa Army National Guard, retiring after 43 years. Bill enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading, wood working, gun collecting, feeding birds and working in his garden. Left to cherish Bill’s memory are his children, Patricia (Aaron) Van Dorin of Paducah, KY, Thomas (Julie) Detrick of Humboldt and Pamela (Roger) Conlon of Humboldt; 7 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and a sister, Bette (Frank) Kern of Algona. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a son, Terry Detrick; a brother, Bob Detrick; and a sister, Marge Van Dyke.
