Went to his heavenly home with the Lord on Saturday, October 21, 2017. Bill was born August 23, 1930 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, a son of Cornelius and Martha (Nap) Bussema. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter-in-law, Judy Bussema; a brother, John Bussema; and 2 sisters, Josephine Knapper and Anna Jean Paulsen. He had been a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident and attended Texas Corners Bible Church. As a locksmith for 27 years, Bill owned and operated Bill’s Lock Shop. He retired due to illness at which time his son and grandson took over the business.
Bill enjoyed working on race cars. The first car was owned by Jim Martin. He eventually built and owned his own car which Tom Martin drove. In more recent years, his favorite moments were spent with his family, friends, and especially his grandchildren. Surviving is Marlene Bussema, his wife of 67 years. Also surviving are 3 children, Connie Graham, Terry Bussema, Tracy Hageman-Andres, and son-in-law, Gregg Andres; 12 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren; a brother, Carl Bussema, Brother- in-law, Don Paulsen, Sister-in-law, Dottie Schallhorn; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
