William A. (Bill) Schrader, 76, of Lafayette, IN, went to heaven, June 7, 2022 after a short illness.

He was born March 8, 1946, in Evansville, IN, the second son of Carlisle and Dorothy Schrader. He graduated from Purdue in 1972 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and supported Purdue as a loyal alumnus, donor, and sports fan.

Bill was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He served honorably in the Marines as a radio operator, achieving the rank of Lance Corporal, and was awarded for his marksmanship.

He started part time at Fairfield Manufacturing in December of 1970. In 1973 he was named manager of test development, torque-hub. He was highly recognized in his field, traveling to China, Europe, South America, and Japan. He retired in October 2015. He enjoyed golfing and cycling and was an avid and formidable tennis player even up until the last few months. Known for his sage advice, intelligence and sense of humor, Bill was loved and respected by many and will be greatly missed.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his brother, Stephen Schrader and wife Jean of Oxford, AL; his nephews Jonathan Schrader (Deidre), Schroon Lake, NY, and Marcus Schrader (Jennifer), New Palestine, IN; and his niece Ann Janel McClure (Patrick), Brazil; his step-children Dennis Carroll, Indianapolis, IN, Kim Mennen, Lafayette, IN, Chery Skibinski, West Lafayette, IN, Jonathan Carroll, Los Angeles, CA; his close friend Sally Becker; and many step grandchildren and great nephews and nieces.
