Bill was a man who his friends and family described as caring, dependable, and hard working. He was known for cracking jokes just to make anyone smile. He spent his entire life taking care of the people he loved the most. Bill was known for taking the shirt off his back to help others. His long career started when he was just 15 years old as a farmer. Bill baled hundreds of bales of hay in the summer. Bill joined the military after high school where he was stationed in Germany. He worked at Fairfield for 15 years then the Purdue golf course for 25 years and drove a school bus after retirement. He enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, and raising animals.
Surviving are two sons, Cody (wife Samantha) Otten of Clarks Hill and Joe (wife Gina) Otten of Lafayette, two daughters, Meghan (husband Kelly) Roseman of Monon and Lori Mitchell of Lafayette and a sister, Dianna Shoaf of Lafayette. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
