William B. Reed, 86, of Lena passed away Saturday, August 30, 2014 at his home.
Born July, 20, 1928 in Palmersville, TN he was the son of Elvern and Janie (Kemp) Reed. On November 25, 1956 he and Kathryn Keep were united in marriage. He owned and operated Southside TV in Freeport and was an Engineer for Illinois Central and Canadian National Railroads. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, playing cards and spending time with his family.
He was a member of Freeport Church of Christ. Surviving are his wife Kathryn of Lena, children Diane Toepfer of Freeport, Bill (Kathleen) Reed of Lena, Jeff (Deb Mick) Reed of Lena, Lauria (Ben) Garcia of Centennial, CO; 16 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; two brothers Wallace (Donna) Reed of Benson Beach, FL, Kemp (Mickie) Reed of Jackson, TN; a sister Anne Alexander of Nashville, TN; and son-in-law Chuck Gerarden of Santa Maria, CA.
Preceding him in death were his parents, daughter Linda, infant daughter Rebecca, grandson Eugene Gerarden and son-in-law Craig Toepfer. Bill’s family would like to thank everyone at FHN Hospice for their care and support, and especially to his wife Katie, who lovingly took care of Bill during his extended illness.
