William C. A. Skiffington, 97

Lakeland – Mr. William C. A. Skiffington, 97, passed away Saturday, January 19, 2013, as a result of complications of COPD.

Mr. Skiffington was born March 29, 1915 in Brooklyn, New York to William D. and Margaret Skiffington. He was a steward for the Knights of Columbus.  Mr. Skiffington was also a member of the Elks Lodge, and American Legion Post 8 in Winter Haven. He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps, where he served in World War II. Mr. Skiffington was a big fan of the Brooklyn Dodgers, and at one point in his life he was the batting practice pitcher for them.

Mr. Skiffington is survived by his wife, of seventy years, Betty; son, William (Phyllis) Skiffington of Brandon, FL; daughters, Pamela Ann (Stephen) Jones of Gulfport, MS and Susan (Marvin) Krause of Summersville, SC; 8 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.
