William A. Rutledge (Bill), 86, passed away on Sunday, April 29, 2007 in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. He is survived by his wife, Ethel Johnson Rutledge (Sis); his two children and their respective spouses, William C. Rutledge (wife Sheri) and Brian S. Rutledge (wife Lynda); and by his grandchildren, Blake Rutledge, Kyle Rutledge, Ashley Rutledge and Alexandra Davila. Bill is also survived by his younger brother, Bernie Rutledge of Middletown. He was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Frank and Vinnie Rutledge, and one sister, Marge Rutledge Bankoski. Bill was born October 15, 1920, in Middletown, to the late Francis A. Rutledge and Anne Donahue Rutledge. He was a graduate of Middletown High School and served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy. After working for 36 years at Northeast Utilities he retired in 1984 and continued to live in the Middletown area until 2003. He and Sis then moved to Florida to be near their children. Bill always remained a devoted UConn women’s’ and men’s’ basketball fan.
