William A. “Bill” Dibbern, a life long resident of Stoughton, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday April 22, 2005, at the Baypointe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Brockton. He was 88 years old. He was the beloved husband of Evelyn C. (Ambrosini).

Mr. Dibbern was born in Stoughton on February 16, 1917 and was the son of the late Mr. Oscar and Mrs. Elsie Dibbern.

Mr. Dibbern attended Stoughton Public Schools.

He was a WWII Veteran, serving his country proudly as a Sergeant with the United States Marine Corps. While with the Marines he achieved various accomadations which included: The Presidential Citation, The Good Conduct Ribbon, The American Theatre Ribbon, The WWII Victory Ribbon and The Asiatic Pacific 3 Star Ribbon.

After serving his country, Mr. Dibbern returned to Stoughton and was employed

By the Brockton Enterprise Newspaper as a Typesetter for over thirty years.

He was also the proud owner of the former Stoughton Trading Post, which he operated with his late son, William H. Dibbern and was in the process of writing a book on antique ammunitions.
