William A. Cilley, 68, died Saturday, January 24, 2009 in his home after an illness. He was the husband of Anita (Monica) Cilley and a retired science teacher for the Mendon-Upton Regional School District.
Mr. Cilley was born in Winchendon, a son of the late H. Norman and Florence (Perham) Cilley. He graduated from Barre High School in 1959 and the U. S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, NY in 1963. He sailed many years for the Moore McCormick Lines, ending with a rank of first mate.
In addition to his wife of 38 years, he leaves two sons, William D. Cilley and his wife Meghan of Northbridge, and Christopher J. Cilley and his wife Carrie of Upton; siblings Beatrice Stem of Shrewsbury, Rev. Norman Cilley and his wife Nadine of Auburndale, FL, Donald Cilley and his wife Paula of Cheshire, CT, Paul Cilley and his wife Nancy of Barre, and Mildred Metcalfe of Barre; and three grandchildren, Monica and Nicole Cilley of Upton and Reese Cilley of Northbridge.
