Willa Marie Howard, beloved mother, was born March 8, 1939 in Hemp (Robbins), North Carolina. She was the ninth of nine children born to the late Henry Thomas Brower and Ada Maness Brower. She departed this life on May 31, 2021.Willa attended public schools in Moore County, graduating from Pinckney High School in Carthage, NC in 1957. At age 57 Willa furthered her education and graduated from Sandhills Community College in Pinehurst, North Carolina with an Associate in Applied Science; Business Administration.

Willa moved to Brooklyn, NY during the great migration to the north as so many southerners did. She left with great hopes and aspiration for her new life in the north. In 1959, Willa was united in marriage with the late Amos Leonard Howard, Sr..

She is survived by a son, Amos Lennon Howard, Jr. his wife Vanessa Howard, of Robbins, NC, Daughters, Nadine Howard-Ward of Garner, NC, Mia Denise Howard of Lexington Park, MD, Bridget L. Parrish her husband David K. Parrish Sr., of Rocky Mount, NC.

After Thirty (30) years Willa returned home to Robbins, NC reuniting with family, friends and her home church New Zion AME Zion Church where she was a lifelong member. Willa served as the president of the Deaconess Board, she also served as the church secretary and faithfully attended Sunday School.

Willa adored her children and especially loved her siblings and family. Willa was a phenomenal seamstress which include making all of her children’s latest styles from bell bottom, knickerbockers, to koolotts, she even made all of her daughter’s prom dresses and they were absolutely beautiful. Willa loved her Mets Baseball, Panthers Football and UNC Tar Heels Basketball and she gave the very best hugs.

Memories of her will be treasured by her two sister, Eulah Johnson and Beulah Shamberger, Eleven grandchildren, Thirteen great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
