On October 15, 2021 Wilfred “Bill” Hunt passed into eternal life. He was a faithful man who loved the Lord, his family, church and community.

Born October 24, 1922 in Detroit, Michigan to Wilfred Hunt Sr & Georgina Stolliker Bill married Dorothy “Jean” Councell in April 1944. After 69 years of marriage Jean died in May 2013. As a life long member of the Salvation Army Bill loved to play his brass bass instrument and sing. From the age of 4 he lived and worked in Kalamazoo.

He enlisted in the United States Army in 1943 & served 4 years in France, Germany and Austria. He graduated from Western Michigan University in 1949 under the GI Bill.

While in college, he worked part-time at Sears, Roebuck & Co & upon graduation continued working for Sears, full-time for 37 years. After retirement he and Jean did the books for their son Steve’s blueberry farm. Bill & Jean enjoyed traveling to visit family & participate in the Elderhostel program. For the last 20 years Bill lived very happily in Friendship Village.

He was a volunteer in many areas including the “hose man” for the Village woods. He was adept at Wii bowling earning the nickname “Thunder” and every year he sang “Bless This House” for the annual Village talent show.

Bill is survived by his children, James (Deborah) Hunt of Danville, VT, Kenneth (Joan) Hunt of Milwaukee, WI, Steven (Peggy) Hunt of South Haven, MI and Patricia (Leonard) Chase of Kalamazoo, MI; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, David Hunt and multiple nieces and nephews.
