Wilford (Mike) Acosta, 85, passed away New Years Day 2011 at Gila Regional Medical Center. He was born in Alma New Mexico on March 12, 1925,
Mike Cowboyed most of his life in and around Catron County. He worked 22 years and retired from the Catron County Road Department. Mike was known for his ability to tell a good story about way back when, also for the love of a good looking, well broke, horse. Mike is one the last true old Cowboys.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Dario and Manuela B. Acosta, his wife Lenora E. Acosta, his grandson James Clayton (Clay) Marshall, Six Brothers and Three Sisters.
He was Survived by his daughter; Michelle L. Littleton and her husband Gary Littleton of Silver City, N.M. and his son Michael H. Acosta of Florida. Three grandchildren; Levi Cody Marshall and companion Renne L. Fortenberry, Virginia Casey Marshall and Grady Mike Littleton, two great-grandchildren John Clayton Mathew Marshall and James Lane Marshall all from Silver City, N.M. and Many nephews and nieces.
Pall Bearers will be; Levi Cody Marshall, Mike Acosta, Tommy Spurgeon, Lester Paralta, Rick Smith, Hugh B. McKeen. Honorary Pall Bearers will be; Santana Martinez, Willy Garcia, Denise Trujillo, Bucky Allred, Edward J. Acosta.
Mike will truly be missed by all who knew him and loved him.
