Wilbur K. Matz, 88, of Bethlehem, passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at St. Lukes Hospice House, Lower Saucon Twp. He was the husband of Catherine M. “Kay” (Reitbauer) Matz. They celebrated 62 years of marriage in December. Born in Bethlehem, he was the last living child of the late Franklin and Zelda (Biery) Matz. Following graduation from Liberty High School, Wilbur served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corp, during World War II, where he was an Aircraft Navigator in the China Burma Campaign. Wilbur worked as a General Contractor for 40 years. He first got involved in Little League in 1967. “I wanted to teach them the right way to play baseball”, Matz said. He coached various levels at City Line L.L., before joining the district staff.
