                Wilberta “Bert” Frances McKinley Skinner

On March 30, 2017, Wilberta “Bert” Skinner left her frail and fragile shell behind to take on her glorious new form to meet her savior, Jesus Christ.

Bert was a faithful wife, wonderful mother, loving grandmother, attentive daughter and sister, caring aunt, and cherished friend.  She enjoyed watching and rooting for Pacer and I. U. Basketball, Reds baseball, and Colts football.  She often wore the colors of her favorite teams.

Bert was a stay-at-home mother and chauffeur for her 4 children and their friends until they reached high school age and could drive themselves.  Once her kids were in Jr. High and or High School she worked as the Office Manager at Wes-Del Junior High School for several years.  She later printed packaging tape for Craft Logo Tape until she retired to be a full-time grandmother.

Those left to remember yet miss her include her children Ted, Peggy, and Jay (Sandi) Skinner, and Cheryl Skinner Maier; her granddaughter, Carlee Maier, her grandsons, Nathan (Lori) and Steven Messer; two great grandchildren; one sister, Virginia Sharp; several nieces and nephews, and long-loved friends, Beverly Washburn and Joanne Groves.

The family expressed gratitude to I.U. Hospice for their care of Bert and her family.

Bert is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, James Skinner; her parents, George Edwin “Ed” and Mildred “Midge” McKinley, nephew, Gary Sharp, and step-mother Rosemary Hirons McKinley.
