Wilbert John “Will” Collins, 94 of Kissimmee, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2022 in St. Cloud, Florida. A member of a Pioneer Osceola County family he was born in Kissimmee, Florida, July 29, 1927, the son of John D. Collins and Eula Collins Brown. He lived here his entire life except for a few years in South Orlando and 10 years in the Florida Keys. He attended Osceola High School and was very active in almost all sports, especially football, baseball and track. During his senior year he enlisted in the Merchant Marines.
Even after they retired and returned to Kissimmee, he remained an avid sportsman. He was always on the lake fishing or in the woods hunting deer or turkey any chance he had. He took great pride in knowing some of his catch was served at The Catfish Place. Friday nights during football season were devoted to his beloved Osceola Kowboys. He never missed a home game and attended as many away games as possible. He was a member of the Osceola Kowboys Booster Club and the Osceola Touchdown Club. He loved watching them play and he was recognized several times during half time for his dedication to the school. While Fridays were for the Kowboys, Saturdays were for watching Florida Gators football. He especially enjoyed going to The Swamp with his son, John, to watch them play. Will also belonged to the Jacob Summerlin Camp 1516 – Sons of the Confederate Veterans, and the Gardner Hunting Club. Will was a proud Osceola County boy and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
