WILBERT DANTZLER was born on March 1, 1926 in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He was the third child born to the union of Fred and Lucille Dantzler. He attended school and received his education in Spartanburg, graduating from Wellford High School in 1942.
On January 15, 1946, Wilbert enlisted in the United States Army and attended “Class B24” of the Airborne School at Fort Benning, Georgia.
In 1952, Wilbert relocated to San Diego, California following in the footsteps of his sister, Eulah and his brother, Loren.
In 1957, he met and married the lovely Phyllis Estridge. Their union was blessed with five beautiful children. Phyllis was called home to glory in 1971.
In 1983, Wilbert married charming and vivacious Alberta Yoakum.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Phyllis; his second wife, Alberta; his son, Scott Dantzler; his parents, two brothers, Albert Dantzler and Loren Dantzler; and his sister, Myra Dantzler.
On Thursday, December 5, 2013, Wilbert Dantzler passed away peacefully at his residence. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughters, Rhonda Dantzler and Kelley Dantzler both of Los Angeles, California and Cheryl Markee (John) of Rising Son, Indiana; one son, Brian Dantzler of San Diego California; sisters, Eulah Marshall of Chula Vista, California, Patricia Dantzler of San Diego, California, Shirley Cochran of Chicago, Illinois, Ollie Jones of Spartanburg, South Carolina and May Jones of Charlotte, North Carolina, Stepdaughters, Lillie Yoakum, Hazel Brown and Clarine Ford (Woodie); stepson, Howard Yoakum, all of San Diego, California; sixteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren and eleven great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends that was dear to him
