Wilbert Bruner Jr., 57, of Jacksonville, IL, died Monday, June 21, 2021, at Passavant Area Hospital. He was born Apr. 10, 1964, in Jacksonville, the son of Wilbert Bruner Sr. and Alberta Yates Bruner.
He is survived by one daughter and one son, Wanda (Josephine Iannone) Brundage and Wilbert Bruner III, both of Jacksonville; six grandchildren, Travell Bruner, Tamia Bruner, Trynity Bruner, Marleigh Bruner, Seth Adams-Bruner, and Sammie Adams-Bruner; two sisters, Mary Bruner of Jacksonville and Cecil Bruner of Detroit, MI; and four nieces and nephews, Kathleen Bruner, Earsel Holmes Jr., Alicia Holmes, and DeShawn (Mary) Fearson. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Whitney Bruner; and three sisters, Kathleen Bruner, Paula Holmes (surviving husband Earsel Holmes Sr. of Detroit, MI), and Christine Bruner.
Mr. Bruner was a chef at many Jacksonville area restaurants over the years. He was a member of Bethel A.M. E. Church. Willie was known affectionately as “Batman”, and enjoyed fishing and singing. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
