Wes was the 3rd child born August 17, 1958, in Alexandra, Virginia, to James Rice Hughes (deceased) and Carole Lung (living); siblings: Patricia Hughes (deceased), James Rice Hughes Jr (deceased), Joyann Edwards (living), and Chris Coker (living).

He is survived by his children: Christean Hughes, Carolyn Hosier, Robert Hughes, Crystal Page and Cherie Hughes; 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Wes was a loving dad and grandpa (grandpa king).

He lived a very full and eventful life and overcame many obstacles life threw at him. Loss of a wife, 3 accidents that resulted in a broken neck, a broken back, and most recently a broken hip. Bet he never let it stop him from doing what he set his mind to.

He wanted to drive truck, so he got his CDL. He wanted to drive motorcycles, so he built one. He wanted to know how to work on cars, so he became a mechanic. He wanted to work armed security, so he did. He wanted to work on armored car, so he got hired at Wells Fargo as a messenger. He fell in love with a woman, so he married her and had a family. He was proud of his successes in life, and he loved telling the stories to his kids and grandkids. He enjoyed building model airplanes and using CB radios. He enjoyed watching classics such as Mash, Andy Griffth, Leave it to Beaver, and The Simpsons with his kids and grandkids. He loved sharing stories and doing yacky doodle impressions to make us laugh.

His passing was unexpected and heart breaking to say the least. The only comfort is in knowing he went peacefully like he wanted, and he is no longer in pain.

His kids say “dad never liked goodbyes they were to permanent to him, so we aren’t saying goodbye. We simply just want him to know we all love him so much and are happy him and mom are together again and when it’s our time we will see them again at the end of the rainbow bridge.”
