TORRINGTON – DUPREE-CASTLE – Wendy Starr Dupree-Castle passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 surrounded by her loving family and friends after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She married Jason Castle Saturday, March 4, 2017 after a 3 ½ year courtship, but they have been in love since the third grade. Born January 4, 1971 in Bristol, Wendy was the daughter of the late Roy William Dupree and stepmother, Nancy Dupree and Barbara Jean Consolini and stepfather, Dominic Consolini.Wendy was a woman of great beauty, talent, intelligence and strength. She played the fife for St. Peter’s Fife & Drum Corps, and even performed a solo for the Queen of England at 15 years old. She graduated from the University of Connecticut, and was “Student of the Year 2003.” She also belonged to Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, and was a Who’s Who Among Colleges and Universities award recipient. Wendy was a Certified Brain Injury Specialist at Goodwill Industries, and she was also very passionate about her time working as a Youth Counselor for 15 years at CJR. She was a devout born-again Christian and member of Hillside Community Church in Bristol. She loved her two kitties, and was an avid fly fisherwoman and avid Patriots fan. She was a beautiful person inside and out, and never met a stranger. Everyone who was lucky enough to know her will know that she never ever gave up, and knows she has sand in her toes and is casting her reel in addition to her husband, she is survived by her beloved daughter, Lindsey Monique Palmer of Torrington, and her boyfriend Matthew R. DeSorbo of Rocky Hill; stepchildren, Michael Castle of Torrington and Laura Conlon of Torrington; two sisters, MaryAnn Brouillard and husband Phillip Burns of MA, and Alice Lapierre of Torrington; very close niece and nephew, Lili and James Palmer of Torrington; niece and nephew, Farah Hage-Sleiman and Abdallah Hage-Sleiman, and Abdallah’s wife, Dr. Rebecca Brushwood; great nieces, Madeline and Coraline; two uncles, Roger Raymond of Torrington and George Raymond of CA; and many extended family members.
