Wendell Maurice Henderson, 45, departed this life Monday, July 1, 2013, at home after an extended battle with multiple sclerosis.

He was born to Rose Ware-Henderson and Joseph Henderson in Elkhart on March 25, 1968.

Wendell graduated in 1986 from Elkhart Memorial High School, where he was an outstanding and celebrated athlete.

Wen, as he was often fondly referred, was employed at Elkhart General Hospital. Wendell always enjoyed being around family and friends and loved all different types of sports, but what he loved the most was being a father to his children and husband to his loving wife.

Left to cherish his memory are his soul mate, best friend and adoring wife of 23 years, Marvette (Glover) Henderson; his children, J’Wana and Javonte Henderson and Jeremy Enboden of Elkhart; mother Rose Ware-Henderson; father Joseph Henderson (Patrice), both of Elkhart; two sisters, Tracey Henderson of Dallas, and Joie Henderson of Indianapolis; two brothers, Mark (Rebecca) Henderson and Christopher Henderson of Elkhart; four aunts, Mary Dean, Catherine and Sarah Ware, and Geneva Henderson; three uncles, Otto, James and George Henderson; mother-in-law Alma Glover; father-in-law Marvin (Judy) Glover; best friend Herman “Lamont” Jackson; special cousins Shirley Ware and Dawn Dunson; and a host of relatives and friends.
