Mr. Weldon Eugene Strickland passed away on December 19, 2014 at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange. He had been a lifelong resident of Newnan. He was born April 18, 1931 and was the son of the late Henry Grady and Rubie Mae Plant Strickland. Following his marriage to Molly Ann Payton in 1949, he served in The United States Navy from 1951 – 1953 on The USS Hanson during The Korean Conflict. Weldon worked for The Douglas and Lomason Company for 35 years as a tool and die maker. He was passionate about traveling in his motor home, frequenting yard sales and eating anything that Molly cooked. He had been a member of Westside Baptist Church for 26 years. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Molly Ann Payton Strickland. His children are Susan Hardigree and her husband Mike, David W. Strickland his wife Pamela, Eve Martin and her husband Doug. He was a doting grandfather to Julie Hardigree, Jayson Hardigree, Jefferson Alexander Wallace, Jeremy Strickland, Erin Martin and Taylor Martin. There are four great grandchildren. Also surviving is his sister Martha Sue Byrd and a cousin whom he loved as a brother, Melvin Hunter.
