Wayne Lee Beenken was born on October 5, 1944 to Henry O. and Vergie (Kardoes) Beenken. He grew up in rural Woden/Britt area. He was baptized at the Ramsey Reformed Church. Wayne attended school at Woden – Crystal Lake, graduating in 1963. Wayne enlisted into the United States Air Force in 1966, attending Basic Training in Locklin, Texas. Later he was stationed in the Philippines, where he met the love of his life, Iluminada (Luming) Galicia. They were married on January 9, 1970 and he brought her back to live in the United States. After Wayne was discharged he attended night school at Mankato State University and obtained an Associates of Arts Degree. He worked for Kayot Forrester and Winnebago Industries in Forest City and in 1974 he became employed by Hormel and retired in 2010 after being employed for 36 ½ years. Wayne and Luming owned Diagonal Laundry Mat and Luming’s Wok Inn. Wayne had a very instrumental role in his sons’ businesses; Beenken Snow Services (Algona) and Goodtimes Manufacturing (Mankato, MN).

Wayne was an honest, fair, loving, religious father, husband, grandfather, uncle and brother. He had a heart of gold and lent a helping hand whenever needed. Wayne led the family in prayer at every meal. He had a strong faith in God & knew everything would be fine.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon/Elder and on various church committees. He enjoyed helping his brothers on the family farm near Woden. Wayne enjoyed his sons and grandchildren, camping in the motor home, traveling overseas to visit family and friends, spending quality time with his soulmate, reading Daily Devotion in the morning and playing solitaire and garbage card games with Cassie.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Luming; his children, Jay (Sherri) Beenken of Algona, Terry (Angela) Beenken of Mankato, MN, Jaime (Shannon) Pascual of Sibley and Rowena Johnson of Sioux Falls, SD; his grandchildren, Alexis & Cassandra Beenken, Ethan & Isaiah Beenken, Michael, Jamie II, Tristen Pascual, Savana (Jeb) Kothenbeutel, Sierra Whipple and Jasmine Johnson; his siblings, Merlin (Marlis) Beenken of Wesley, Sharon (Denny) Heinen of Huxley and Daryl (Nancy) Beenken of Woden; brother-in-law Philip Luppen of Kanawha and one step brother and two step sisters; as well as many nieces and nephews and extended members of his family, Pinky & Bao Chen of Algona, Way Sze Chong of Hong Kong and Chloe Mok of Hong Kong.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Henry O. and Vergie Beenken; his step mother Ella Eden Beenken and sister Wilma Luppen.
