Wayne was born May 19, 1951 at St. Mary’s Hospital, LaSalle to Walter and Ida L. (Ruppert) Cocking. Wayne married Susan Jean Rietgraf on June 10, 1972 at St. Joseph’s Church, Peru. He received his Associate’s Degree from Illinois Valley Community College. Wayne worked as a Registered Nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital, LaSalle and later Illinois Valley Community Hospital, now St. Margaret’s Health, Peru. Wayne relocated to Arizona and worked at various hospitals before returning to the area and retired from St. Margaret’s Health, Spring Valley. He was a member of the Spring Valley Sportsman’s Club and enjoyed gardening, fishing, and loved his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Susan of Peru; four children, Jennifer Cocking of Peru, Matthew (Carri) Cocking of Chandler, AZ, Kathryn Cocking of Peru, and Kristina Cocking of LaSalle; eight grandchildren, Logan Zeman, Quenton Zeman, Gus Konieczki, Kyle Cocking, Tyler Cocking, Caitlyn Cocking, Jenisis Greening, and Jazlynn Cocking; siblings, Gerald Cocking of Sterling, Walter C. Cocking of Middlesburg, FL, Judith Sharp of Ottawa, and his twin sister, Wendy Smyth of LaSalle.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
