WARD JAMES ARMSTRONG
1935-2016

With his beloved wife at his side, Ward James Armstrong, 80, of Ogden, Utah, died, on Monday, February 22, 2016.

He was born the third of four children to the late Hal and Kathryn (Healy) Armstrong on September 24, 1935, in Ogden, Utah. He married his lifetime partner, Geniel Snarr on September 20, 1955.

Ward and Geniel led a very busy life together, raising their five children in Ogden, where they were also both born and raised.

Ward started his career at the family-owned business, Armstrong Sporting Goods Store, where he honed his skills in sales. After graduating from Ogden High School, he was awarded a scholarship from Columbia University in New York, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in 1957.

Ward’s passion for sports easily translated to his career in sporting goods retail, to which he devoted 35 years before retiring in 1997. Never one to sit idly by, he served as a docent at the Ogden Gun Museum upon his retirement.
