Wanda Pratt Hoy, age 91, of Kalamazoo, Michigan, passed away September 20th at Friendship Village. Wanda was born October 23, 1925 in Ironton, Ohio, the youngest daughter of the late Pearl and Zelda (Watters) Pratt. In addition to her parents, Wanda was preceded in death by her sister, Hilda Temple and brothers, Keith and Frank Pratt. She graduated from Ironton High School and Ohio University.

She was a member of Chi Omega Sorority where she formed lifelong friendships. After college, she married Joseph T. Hoy and they lived in Ann Arbor, Michigan, River Falls, Wisconsin, and then settled in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Wanda will be dearly missed by her four children: Shelley of Sammamish, WA, Thomas (Dee Dee) of Portage, Susan (Greg) Grubich of Louisville, CO, and Joseph of Orangeville, CA; eleven grandchildren: Nicole (Joe) Whitesel, Magee (Daniel) Patzer, Andrea (Sam) Giacomantonio, Tyler (Jane) Grubich, Grant (Tricia) Grubich, Sydney (Adam) Loyd, Ben (Brandy), Brett (Hollie), Michael (Erika), Ryan, and Andrew Hoy. She is also survived by 19 great-grandchildren.

Wanda was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother whose influence on loved ones will leave a lasting legacy. In addition to being an accomplished homemaker and mother, Wanda was a dedicated educator. She was a professor at Davenport College, Western Michigan University, and was proud to be a founding member of the Kalamazoo Valley Community College faculty where she enjoyed influencing the lives of business education students. Wanda was ahead of her time in balancing the dual roles of loving homemaker and successful career woman. She took loving and attentive care of her four children.

Although the duties of family and career took priority, Wanda managed to enjoy hobbies which included home decorating, cooking, sewing, knitting, and gardening. In retirement she traveled domestically and abroad and enjoyed spending time in her home in Naples, Florida. The family is very grateful and appreciative of the kindness and care given to Wanda by the staff at Woodside Assisted Living and the Health Center at Friendship Village.
