Wanda Louise Keesee Stevens, of Newcastle, Oklahoma, passed away on Friday, July 14, 2023 at the age of 89. Wanda was born on July 20, 1933 in Howe, Oklahoma to Walter Hubbard and Stella Luevena Lambert (Moore). Wanda was a very competitive person, to put it mildly. It didn’t matter if it was dice, cards, wahoo, bowling, or gambling – if there was even the smallest prize to be won or victory to be had, she had to have it. She loved to play 31, and she really loved to play dice with her son-in-law Max Armentrout. They would play 3 games in the mornings and kept track of their games in a notebook for the entire year. At the end of the year one would get a trophy from all of their games. Wanda made sure she was always ahead of Max. This tradition went on for 20 years. Bowling was another game she perfected. She would practice with her son-in-law Ray Hibdon using washers instead of bowling balls so they could practice getting it to roll just right. Wanda wanted to make sure she would always be the winner in all competitions, and she’s got her bowling trophy to prove it. Even as a child she and her siblings could be heard screaming and hollering over the games. When she wasn’t trying to beat everyone at all challenges, she loved going to the lake, camping, and cooking. She loved to catch and cook fish, even though she didn’t eat fish and was allergic to shellfish.

Wanda was blessed to find love with Bob Stevens. They were married in 1981 and truly shared a lifetime of love until Bob’s passing in February of 2001. During their marriage they loved to travel together and Wanda enjoyed watching Bob work on the ranch and garden with his dog, Elvis. In true Wanda fashion though, life wasn’t just sitting around and gardening – she needed to play as many pranks on Bob as she could. They were kindred spirits, so he would prank her right back. Wanda loved her career working in the cafeteria for Oklahoma City Schools for several years. Her last school was Columbus Elementary. She loved the students and loved being there with them. She was blessed to raise her children and see her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and two great great grandkids grow. She was an amazing and loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, aunt, and friend. We will all miss her competitive nature and her silly antics and faces that she would make at everyone.

Wanda is survived by her children, Ray (Kathy) Keesee, Jean (Carl) Queen, Eddie (Becky) Keesee, Gail (Donnie) Bussell, Mary (Max) Armentrout, and Dianne Hibdon; 13 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and many additional extended family members and friends.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Hubbard and Stella Luevena Lambert (Moore); husband, Bob Stevens; grandson, Eddie Ray Keesee; son-in-law, Ray Hibdon; daughter, Donna Holleyman; and siblings, Milburn Hubbard, Dorothy Jones, Melba Brown, Sonny Lambert, Joe Lambert, Gladys Watson, Betty Marxman, Christine Criss, Freida Chapman, Ruie Roberts, and Trixie Littlefield.
