Wanda Jean Kennell, age 90, of Salem, died at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at the Essex of Salem III. She was born May 3, 1924 in Bedford, PA, daughter of the late Russell and Sara (Weyant) Smith. Wanda was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a Gray lady volunteer with the Salem Community Hospital Auxiliary, a girl scout leader and a 1943 graduate of Bedford High School. She was a beloved wife and mother, who enjoyed being a homemaker and cook. She loved crocheting, knitting and playing the piano. Her husband Edwin Kennell, whom she married December 23, 1945, preceded her in death on Oct. 8, 2008. She is survived by a daughter Martha (Bernie) O’Gara of Salem; a niece, Kelly (Gary) Dehart of Charlotte, North Carolina.
