Wanda June Cogswell Carpenter, age 80, a resident of Clearfield for more than 50 years, passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington.
Born June 17, 1936, in Farmers, she was a daughter of the late William ‘Bill’ Phelps Cogswell and Blandenia Fern Craycraft Cogswell. Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by one son, Bernard Joe Horton, in 2014; and a grandson, Josh Thibault, in 2016.
Wanda June is survived by her husband of fifty years, William Harold Carpenter, whom she wed April 14, 1967; two daughters, Janet Hogge and husband Don and Cindy Kerns and husband Tim, all of Morehead; one son, Anthony ‘Tony’ Horton of Hillsboro; two stepdaughters, Susan Ebersohl and husband Skyler of Pontiac, Michigan, and Shirley Thibault of Nashville, Tennessee; 9 grandchildren, Wendy Dowler, Jamie Hogge, Aaron Horton, Rebekah Horton, Katlyn Brock, T. J. Mead, Miranda Vandegriff, Allie Stich, and Adrianna Kerns; and 18 great grandchildren.
Other survivors include two sisters, Mary Kay Utterback and Carolyn Cogswell, both of Morehead; one brother, Billy Joe Cogswell of Hillsboro; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
Wanda June graduated from Morehead High School and attended Morehead State University.
