Funeral Services for Wanda Jean Walker, age 82, of Picayune, MS, who passed away Friday, April 29, 2022, will be held Monday, May 2, 2022, at 11:00 AM at New Palestine Baptist Church.Visitation will be Monday, May 2, 2022 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, service time at New Palestine Baptist Church. Burial will be in New Palestine Cemetery under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.Rev. Walt Barnes will officiate the service.A native of Poplarville, MS, Wanda was the daughter of a dairy farmer. After graduating from Savannah High School in Poplarville, she went on to receive her Associates of Art degree from Pearl River Community College. On December 10, 1960, Wanda married the love of her life, Robert S. Walker. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she took joy from being with her family, as she hosted weekly Sunday dinners for immediate and extended members of the family. Wanda took great pride in being a devoted keeper of her home, while raising children and grandchildren. For more than 30 years, she served as a faithful and skilled organist at New Palestine Baptist Church. As a talented gardener and seamstress, Wanda canned veggies each year and dressed her children beautifully in clothes that she made herself. In her spare time, she took joy from nature with activities such as bird watching. In the face of challenging health issues, Wanda kept a smile on her face, and a meekness and kindness toward others. The joy of the Lord was her strength. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert J King and Ruby M. Jarrell King.Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Robert S. Walker; her daughters, R. Suzanne Winters (Barry), Laurin J. Grubbs (Geri), J. Lynn Greer (David), and Rachel W. Spiers (Jeremy); her 6 grandchildren, Gena Hunter (Jacob), Jacey Barajas, Rebecca Brett (Stephen), Nicholas Winters, Matthew Winters (Jess), Mason Macdonald (Kyelynn); her10 great grandchildren, Jaxon and Cruz Hunter, McKale and Gabby Barajas, Knox and Colton Brett, Laylynn, Gracelynn, Brentson, and Everlynn Macdonald; her siblings, Betty Rose McCrimmon (Harvey), Gwendolyn Kelly, Melba Smith, Lynda Cumberland (Tom), and Donnie King (Debbie).
