Walter Taylor, Sr. was born to the late James Lorton, Sr. and Mary Ann Taylor on January 29, 1934 in Washington, DC.  He was the fourth of nine siblings (six boys and three girls).  Walter was educated in the District of Columbia Public School System. 

 Walter was united in holy matrimony to Zubie Feaster on September 28, 1956 and their union was blessed with two children Walter, Jr “Bootsie” and Octavia.

Walter was employed with the United Postal Service in Washington, DC and in the early 80’s he was transferred to Newark, NJ were he resided.  In October 2013 he returned to the DMV area due to illness.  While in New Jersey he hung up his Pinochle Card Game Gloves and learned to play Bridge.  Walter was an avid Bridge card player and was a member of the American Bridge Association.  He was often heard saying “I’m from a card playing family and there are few card games I don’t play, but Bridge is my baby.”

 Walter departed this life, leaving behind a legacy of love and commitment.  He was preceded in death by two brothers; James Lorton, Jr “Brother” and Edward Lee Taylor: two sisters: Lizzie Kate “Katie” Henson and Yvonne King.  He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Zubie Taylor; two children: Walter, Jr “Bootsie” and Octavia Taylor; two grandchildren: Tomieka and Kevin Thompson; seven great grandchildren:  Chyna, Tauhid, Autumn, Tajune, Mekhiya, Kevin and Kayden: three brothers: John “Johnny”, Matthew “Mac” and Robert Taylor; one sister: Marguearitta Jeannetta Taylor; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and a multitude of friends and a very special friend, Saundra Gregory.
