LYME – It is with great sadness that the family announces the loss of their beloved parents, Walter Gustav Sjoquist, age 94, on Friday (Oct. 31, 2014), only to be reunited with his beloved wife of nearly 73 years, Pearl Louise (Crosby) Sjoquist, age 90, in the early hours of Saturday (Nov. 1, 2014).

Both natives of Boston, MA, they were married on Dec. 22, 1941. Walter served proudly with the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, and went to work as a Tech Writer for Naval Underwater Systems for many years before his retirement. Utilizing his carpentry skills, Walter had volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and was recognized for his volunteer work with the New London Science Center. Dedicated to her family, Pearl was a loving mother to their two children, whom they leave behind – Lawrence Sjoquist and wife, Sally Anne of Salem and Elizabeth “Lisa” Strecker and her partner, Cheryl of Mystic; a grandson, Scott Sjoquist and his wife, Heather of East Lyme; two great grandchildren, Maya and Lily; and Pearl’s twin sister, Edith Sturgeon of Framingham, MA.
