Walter C. Herrmann, 89, of Peru, formerly of Ottawa, passed away Monday July 11, 2016 at IVCH in Peru.
Mr. Herrmann was born on June 16, 1927 in LaSalle to August and Louise (Lutz) Herrmann. He married Shirley J. Clausen on June 28, 1953 at Emmaus Lutheran church in McNabb. Walter served in the Army/Air Force during WWII. He received his bachelor degree from Illinois State University and later earned his masters degree from University of Illinois. Walter taught in the Ottawa Grade Schools for 34 years. He was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Peru and a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Ottawa.
He is survived by his sister and brother in-law, Helen (Richard) Petzing of Wenona; his brother in-law, Donald (Jeanne) Clausen of Rhinelander, WI; his long time companion, Loretta Phelps of Peru; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Shirley on December 5, 1994.
