Walter F. Gray, 93, of Three Oaks, Michigan died Monday, September 24, 2012 at Jordan’s Life Care Center in Bridgman, Michigan.Walter was born July 29, 1919 in Danville, Illinois to William A and Florence E (Garrison) Gray. He served his country in the US Army, stationed in Battle Creek at the Percy Jones Army Hospital. It was there that he met Priscilla Botimer, whom he married October 1, 1943.

Walter was employed at the Battle Creek Equipment Company, Essex Wire in Berrien Springs, Benton Harbor Engineering and lastly at the Bank of Three Oaks. On October 2, 1971 he married Josephine (Nekvasil) Fleck. When Josephine’s health failed and it became necessary for her to move to Jordan’s Life Care Center, Walter drove there every day to visit and help in any way he could. Walter enjoyed volunteering and continued to volunteer at Jordan’s even after Josephine’s death in 1998. He also volunteered as a driver for the River Valley Senior Center’s Meals on Wheels. Walter enjoyed woodworking, and he loved his family and spending time with them.

Survivors include his children, Jerry (Denise) Gray of Crete, IL; Polly (William) Bakkila of Kalamazoo, and Jennifer (Steve) Bajtka of Manistee, Michigan; 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. His sisters, Velma, Mary and Alberta; brother Wilbur and an infant son preceded him in death.
