Sara Ann Eyler recalled of her brother, Walter E. Wilson that “he had a great sense of humor and was a typical big brother” tease, tease, tease”. Walter Emory Wilson passed away peacefully in his sleep at 3:45 a.m. on Sunday, March 27, 2011. Walter was born in Baltimore Memorial Hospital on March 10, 1921 and grew up in Forest Hill Maryland. After graduating from high school in 1939, he worked for his dad delivering fuel to gas stations for Sinclair Oil. In March, 1942 he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps and entered flight training in August, 1942. Because there were so many new pilots in flight training and the “top brass” thought the war would be short, 40% of his class were reassigned to other duties at the end of flight training.
