Walter E. Anspach, 94, a lifelong Fremont resident, passed away Friday July 14, 2023 at Ottawa County Riverview Care Center in Oak Harbor. He was born November 25, 1928 in Fremont OH, the son of Walter E. and Anna (Wyss) Anspach. Walter was a graduate of Fremont Ross High School and went on to serve in the United States Army. During Walter’s military service, he was stationed in Korea as a Sargent in the infantry. He was severely wounded in battle making him a Purple Heart recipient along with many other awards for combat duty. On December 12, 1955 he married Ruth E. Keller.

Walter retired from Consolite Corporation as a silk screen processor. As a second job, Walter did painting and wallpapering. He enjoyed eating at the local establishments, but especially Whitey’s Diner. Walter also enjoyed antique hunting and keeping up his yard and home.

Surviving is his daughter Candice (Steve) Hampshire and grandson Zachary Hampshire both of Fremont, OH; sister Norma Harringan of Sandusky, OH.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 64 years, Ruth; son James M. Anspach; siblings Lucille Heid, Mary Ann Krauss, Lucy Dorfmeyer, and John B. Anspach.

Walter’s family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to the doctor, nurses, and staff at Ottawa County Riverview Care Center for taking such great care of him while in their care.
