Walter “Dick” Cooper, Age 91, of Garrison, Kentucky passed away Wednesday morning May 14, 2014 @ 7:55 AM at Hempstead Manor in Portsmouth, Ohio after an extended illness.
Dick was born in Lewis County, Ky. September 10, 1922 to the late George W. and Rhoda Sparks Cooper. He was a construction worker and carpenter during his lifetime and was of the Christian Faith. Member of the V.F.W. Post 5438 Monte Lewis Stamm. Veteran of the United States Army and served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre during World War II .
Surviving is a sister- Audrey Louderback of Oak Hill, Ohio
One brother- Earl (Shirlene) Cooper of Garrison, Ky.
1-granddaughter- Laura Perkins of Salyersville, Ky.
4-great grandchildren- Robert Eugene Perkins, Johnathan Simon Perkins, Victoria Diane Perkins, and Katherine Cheyenna.
4-step-children- Alta (Gary) Vice, Betty Sharok, Jack Stamper and Junior Stamper.
Preceded in death beside his parents was his wife Ida Mae Stamper Cooper and a daughter- Margo Lane.
5-brothers- Elwood, Pat, Ralph, Bill, and George Cooper. 5-sisters- Ilene Cooper, Mamie Horsley, Gladys Blevins, Kate McCleese and Mae Cooper.
