Walter C. MacGillivray, known as Frosty, aged 64, passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 24, 2012.  He was born on April 1, 1948 in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and is preceded in death by his parents, Allan “Bear” MacGillivray and Violet Swanson MacGillivray, and his brother, Donald MacGillivray.  He was raised in Santa Fe, New Mexico and graduated from Santa Fe High School.  He then attended the University of New Mexico and graduated from Highlands University with a B.A. in Anthropology.  Frosty was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather.  

He is survived by his wife, Lynnette Kirk MacGillivray, his best friend and wife of 42 years.  He is also survived by his beloved children, Kirk MacGillivray and wife Melanie of Santa Fe, Lachlan MacGillivray and wife Bree of Boise, Idaho, Heather MacGillivray of Boise, Idaho, Ashley MacGillivray of Tucson, Arizona, and his adored grandsons, Scott, Beckham and Liam.  Also surviving Frosty are his brother, Allan “Mac” MacGillivray III of Santa Fe, sister, Janet MacGillivray Mutz and husband Dave Mutz of Eagle Nest, New Mexico and brother, Duncan MacGillivray and wife MaryAnn MacGillivray of Sierra Madre, California.  Frosty’s extended family includes aunt, Jean MacGillivray Seth of Santa Fe, cousins Laurel Seth of Santa Fe and Sandy Seth of Taos, cousins Jim MacGillivray and Jack MacGillivray of Albuquerque and cousin, Mia Prieskorn and son Bo Prieskorn of Las Vegas, and many other cousins, nieces and nephews.

Frosty was a resident of Santa Fe for 63 years and passed away in Boise, Idaho, where he hoped to spend his remaining years with his family.   Frosty loved the outdoors and avidly enjoyed skiing, fly fishing, hunting and camping with his children and friends.  He began his career  in hotel management in Santa Fe at La Posada and Rancho Encantado, then co-owned Small World Travel with his wife, as well as owned construction and electrical businesses in Santa Fe.  His humor, love for his family and friends, and outgoing and friendly spirit will be dearly missed.
