Walter Benjamin Hunt, 88, formerly of 205 Martin Ave., Danville, VA died Wednesday, August 15, 2012 while a patient at Riverside Health and Rehabilitation Center, Danville, VA. Born July 15, 1924 in Rocky Mt., VA, he was the son of the late Lester Posey Hunt and the late Martha Ann Chitwood Hunt. He is survived by his wife, Mary Alma Adkins Hunt of the residence. They were married January 11, 1946. Mr. Hunt was an employee of the City of Danville where he retired in 1980 as a foreman in the Public Works Department. He was a member of the Sandy Shores Baptist Church, and was saved by the grace of God. He was a member of the American Legion Dan River Post 1097 and was a member of the United States Army where he was a sergeant. He served his country from 1943 to 1951 and served in World War II from 1945 to 1947. He loved music and people, and played with the Blue Ridge Pickers. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children who he loved very much, Pamela Fuqua and husband, Bert, Linda Ligon, Allen Hunt and wife, Cathy and Betty Adkins and husband, David. He is further survived by his “grandkidsâ€, Michael Fuqua, Dee Lynskey and husband, Tommy, Lisa Martin and husband, David, Darrell Arehart, Patty Jo Overby, Kayla Newton and Shawna Gilbert, eleven great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and a sister, Virginia Albrecht. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters.
